BooksThis page contains a list of interesting books related to communication standards and other related topics. Note that even though Ringholm lists these books as recommended readining it doesn't sell these books itself. HL7 - Communication Standard in Medicine
The authors are Kai Heitmann, Bernd Blobel and Joachim Dudeck, from HL7 Germany, who initially published this booklet for the German health environment. It has been translated into multiple languages, e.g. English, Czech and Japanese. DICOM Basics
The author is Herman Oosterwijk, MSc, MBA, who has been involved with the DICOM standardization effort since its inception in 1983 as the ACR-NEMA standard. His book is based on his teaching experience and the many classes and seminars he has participated in. This book is not intended to be a comprehensive handbook or programmers guide for DICOM software implementers, nor is it intended to be a “DICOM for Dummies”, i.e. provide a simple user guide for every DICOM related question. It is rather a simple reference for people who like to understand the basics of the Digital Imaging and Communications (DICOM) standard. This book can be ordered via the OTech Inc. website.

The Version 3 development by HL7 represents a major worldwide landmark in the developments of standards for electronic information flows in healthcare. It has already received substantial endorsement in a number of countries and also now forms the basis for an ISO international standard on healthcare message development. The V3 documentation is substantial and not easy to get familiar with. This Primer helps the reader to get started on V3. Great care was taken in writing and revising the material to ensure that anyone using the Primer should be able to rapidly get to grips with the key elements of the V3 methodology. |
